Large Cypress Carvings

Salvaged from a subsequently demolished house. Dates to the last quarter of the 19th century. Dimensions are approximate.

Please note these carvings are pierced all the way through the wood.  There is a lot of skill in designing and executing them so that they can be viewed equally well from either side.  Fragments carved all the way through are obviously more fragile than those carved only in relief, and I am grateful that they survived undamaged.
