Stellar Trio Fragments
Pair of figures showing Fu, Lu and Shou. Fu represents good fortune, Lu represents wealth through rank, and Shou attended by a youngster represents immortality. These carvings originated in Fujian province and were rescued from a demolished house. They have their original paint (overcoated) and date from about 1920.
The Chinese concept of "Fu" frequently depicted by the "Stellar Trio" represent a symbolic statement of what all people hope for: to wit: successful lives, sufficient wealth, and a long life. What could be better?
