Second Elm Bench
This magnificently carved bench from Yunnan Province dates from right around the turn of the 20th century. The feet suggest a "ruyi" and it has a beautifully carved apron as well as carved feet. Some Chinese furniture has a very simple look. This bench shows off the carver's skill, and is highly ornamented. This elm bench has its original color with a clear overcoat. It dates from about 1900. The depth of the top is 10".
