First Natural Colored Buffet
This elm buffet made in Hebei Province around 1850 has been refinished in such a way that the natural figure of the elm shines forth. This buffet has had its doors modified to permit easier access to the interior, and has had it's hardware replaced. The interior shelf has also been replaced. Drawer interiors have also been repaired. As those of you who follow this site have long since learned, Chinese country antiques frequently are found in weather worn conditions, and need restoration to make them functional once again. This buffet is such an example, and when you look at the beauty of the original elm wood, restoration was well worth the effort.
