Four-Drawer Painted Buffet

The first thing to note is that this buffet looks like two Manchurian type chests joined in the middle.  Mentally, one could saw this buffet right in half and have two matching Manchurian chests. Accordingly this chest has four drawers over two pairs of doors.  This buffet is quite late in age.  It is only about 60 years old.  It's principle merit - in addition to its style - are the original painting on the doors and on the drawers.  If you look at that door painting carefully, you will notice that each door has calligraphy inscribed as well.  Figuratively translated from right to left, the calligraphy reads "Nice scenery of southern China"  "Bright mountains and beautiful river" "Nice landscape that makes people feel comfortable" and "Clear lake and colorful mountain"  The rest of the buffet has been repainted. The buffet is made from elm, has replaced hardware and interior shelf, and originated most probably in the province of Inner Mongolia.  This buffet owes its distinctiveness to its architecture and painting.
