Second Elm Buffet
This elm buffet probably originated in Hebei province around 1850. The grain of the elm is simply beautiful, and the pictures do not do it justice. This is one impressive buffet. As found, it needed a lot of work. The pair of doors flanking the middle set have been cut from the original panels to facilitate interior access. The hardware on the buffet has been replaced, and it has a replaced interior shelf. Many of the drawer interiors have been rebuilt, and there is evidence of wood worm damage in one of the drawers. (The worms have long since been laid to rest) There is also restoration to the legs where water damage necessitated it, and the whole buffet refinished. Just look at the result! Fully functional, the elm grain shining through, and ready to grace the lucky home in which it will reside.
