Second Red Painted Buffet
This Buffet is made of cypress wood and probably originated in Manchuria sometime in the first quarter of the 20th century. Cypress, like poplar, is a much lighter wood than elm. As a result, it is easier to move, although it will hold whatever you might put into it without creating excessive structural burden. The painting on this buffet has been touched up and the buffet has the usual restorative improvements found in virtually all the buffets. Drawers have been made from the original panel below the doors, the door openings modified for ease of access, and replaced hardware and interior shelf. The picture of this buffet is taken shortly after it arrived in San Francisco from China.
