Third Red Painted Buffet
This elm buffet probably originated in Hebei province in the first quarter of the 20th century. Picture frame molded top, the heavily carved aprons are just a delight. The doors have been modified, and some of the drawer interiors have been reconstructed. This buffet has replaced hardware, and the interior shelf is also replaced. You have probably already noticed that this buffet is a somewhat smaller version of the buffet labeled "Second Natural Colored Buffet." Which of the two similar buffets do I like the better? Reminds me of that old song from the Broadway musical, "Finian's Rainbow" It goes "When I'm not near the girl I love, I love the girl that's near."
