Chest With Drawer
This little chest is pure Chinese country. The drawer may be a later addition, the hardware replaced. It does have original paint on the doors and on part of the case. This chest is made of elm and originated in either Hebei or Shandong province sometime in the first quarter of the 20th century. These sized chests are the handiest things in the world. They don't take up much room, and can serve as end tables, but can also hold a lot of stuff. In other words, they are just plain handy. Usable anywhere as a "tuck in" piece of furniture, and great as a catch-all.
