Low Chest With Drawers

This low elm chest most probably made in either Hebei or Shanxi province has had its doors reconfigured, and its drawer interiors rebuilt.  It was made sometime in the first quarter of the 20th century.  I have used this chest as a bookcase underneath a window, and it is terrific.  Again, this is a piece of furniture that can fit well into a smaller space than can a tall bookcase, and serve a very useful function.
