Second Chest With Two Drawers

This elm chest most probably originated in Hebei province in the first quarter of the 20th century.  It has had its doors cut to improve interior access and has replaced hardware and an interior shelf.  This chest works.  Not only is its finish beautiful, and its uses abundant, but the slight carving on the base spandrels adds a tough of elegance to its appearance.  A highly useful, decorative piece of furniture.
