Black-Painted Tablet

This tablet has been repainted, although I suspect its original color was also black, as that color would have emphasized the importance of its message of honor. Figuratively translated, the tablet says "A Toast to Honor a Respectable Elderly Aristocrat." This panel would have been presented to honor a scholarly elder. The calligraphy also dates the tablet: Qing Dynasty Guangxu period - Winter 17th lunar New Year (1891).
