This stool was made around the middle of the 20th century from elm wood. Very hard to specify originating province, as stools such as this were made all over China. This stool has the legs mortised right through the top of the stool, and the legs are joined by cross stretchers mortised right through each leg. One can see the wear on the finish, and I suspect that the finish was worn off the legs where they met the ground. Beautifully and sturdily made, this stool has lots of rustic charm.
