If you have not already noticed, I really like Mongolian type chests!! Why? First is their form, with a narrow appearance. Second, I personally like having drawers over the doors as I seem to open the drawers more frequently than the doors. Third, these are frequently painted and I like the vibrancy of paint. Fourth, they have so many uses. Some like to use them as end tables beside a bed or sofa. In any event, you get the picture. I like these chests. This one is made of elm sometime early in the 20th century, and originates from Inner Mongolia or Shanxi provinces. This chest has original paint on the doors and drawers, the case has been repainted. Drawer interiors have been replaced as well as the interior shelf.
