This is a typical Mongolian style chest. Chests of this style have two drawers over one set of doors. Sometimes one is lucky enough to find a pair, but that does not happen too often. This elm chest actually is from Inner Mongolia, and was made around the middle of the 20th century. This chest has original painting on the doors and drawer fronts and a part of the paint on the case is also original. I call chests of this type "tuck-in" pieces of furniture because they can be used virtually anywhere in a house or office, and provide a lot of storage space.
