This elm stool has a replaced rattan seat. The rattan covers an elm seat so that the stool retains its seating strength with the rattan simply as decoration. The stool originated in Shandong province in the late Qing to early Republic years. It is very well built with traditional Chinese joints and has a beautiful waist just below the seat. About 80 to 100 years old.
