Half Moon-Shaped Stool With Three Legs

This stool was made of poplar in Shandong Province right around the middle of the 20th century.  Obviously what is most appealing in this stool is its architecture.  The half moon seats rest on only three legs.  It is architecturally and sculpturally a great design, and it almost suggests a sense of humor on the part of the person who made it.  I can almost hear the person speaking to them self  "A half seat deserves no more than three legs."  Of course, the person constructing the stool would have said it in Chinese!  This stool is a successful whimsical design.  Useful too.
