This folding table was made of Cypress in Fujian around the turn of the 19th century. It retains some original paint, although most of the paint has been redone or touched up. This is the only table of its kind I have ever seen. Obviously designed to be completely portable, its flat top provides a good surface for easy reading or writing. What can be said about the apron? To me the apron ends resemble pistol grips. To others they resemble sword hilts. You decide for yourself. One thing is for sure. I am likely to go to my grave before finding another one of these.
