This stool was made from pine or cypress in Shandong Province in the mid 20th century. Somehow, I find these stools amazing in that how many trees do you find where the limbs are constructed to provide four legs? This stool almost literally was hacked out of a tree. Indeed there can be some questions as to whether this is a stool or a bench. Doesn't matter. What matters is the design, and the absolutely wonderfully primitive nature of this item.
