First Poplar And Rosewood Stool

This stool is made from Chinese poplar wood with a rosewood center panel in the seat.  It is made with a waist separating the top from the legs, horse hoofed feet, a humpback stretcher connecting the legs, and a good fortune symbol (the Chinese bat) carved into the stool apron.  Notice also the carved beading on the legs.  This stool is just beautifully made.  It originated most probably in Zhejiang Province in the first quarter of the 20th century.  To me it is one of the best I have seen.
