Round Three-Legged Stool

This three legged stool was probably used both indoors and out.  It was made of elm in the first quarter of the 20th century.  Stools such as this one were made and used all over China, so it is very difficult to specify its province of origin.  It retains much of its original yellow paint, although one can see easily the wear around the bottoms of the legs.  The round top has been polished through much use, and has a wonderful pattern to the grain.  The three legs are strengthened by a double stretcher.  Pure country at its finest.
