Seven Drawer Table

This elm table, made in Shanxi around 1850, has so much going for it that it will tax my descriptive powers to describe it well.  This table has its original paint, which has been over coated to prevent further damage.  It has a picture frame molded top, and well executed aprons on either side of the drawers.  The top three drawers are original; the bottom four have been newly made out of the table's original panels.  In other words before the bottom four drawers were made, the table looked just as it does now with the exception of the four drawer pulls.  As is frequently the case, the lower four drawers were made to enhance the utility of the table.  The details of construction of this table make it a particularly well executed example of the carpenter's skill. There are age appropriate repairs to the side spandrels.
