Small Red Table

This table has its original red paint (with an added clear over coat) and was made of elm in either Shandong or Hebei province in the first quarter of the 20th century.  Please note the cuffed feet, and the humpback stretcher connecting the legs with simple struts connecting the stretcher with the apron.  The apron supports a high waist which in turn supports a picture frame molded top.  This is a beautiful example of painted Chinese country furniture.
